Young America’s Foundation partnered with Mountain States Legal Foundation and the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty to successfully challenge a policy that would have required conservative students who are forming a Young Americans for Freedom chapter at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse to adopt a leftist manifesto veiled as an “inclusion statement.”
The statement, which university officials say was created by the student government, explicitly endorses illegal immigration, leftist gender ideology, and promises that the YAF chapter will fight for “social justice,” which is essentially code for whatever the Left’s latest agenda item may be:
“[The] referenced statement is not a condition for YAF’s recognition as a student organization, effective immediately,” the University of Wisconsin’s general counsel, Quinn Williams, wrote in a Friday morning email to the chapter’s legal representation.
Williams also provided YAF with a copy of a memo addressed to Chancellor Joe Gow, in which he states that the policy “impermissibly limits the ability of such student organizations’ ability to determine their own goals and beliefs.”
“This is a massive victory for free speech and our constitutionally protected rights, and we look forward to promoting YAF across the campus next semester,” Ryan Kitzan, chairman of the YAF chapter, told the New Guard.
Leftist indoctrination and compelled speech has become all too common on college campuses throughout the country. Young America’s Foundation is proud to stand with these bold and courageous students.
Under attack? YAF’s got your back.
