The Conservative Movement lost one of the staunchest advocates for freedom’s principles on April 29, David Horowitz. His uncompromising style and cunning strategy allowed him to outmaneuver and outperform his leftist detractors.
For more than three decades, the great David Horowitz was a staple of YAF’s campus lecture program — speaking at more than 140 events organized by the Foundation — as well as student conferences.
In the 2005-2006 academic year alone, Horowitz spoke at 16 universities around the country.
He was a frequent draw at YAF’s conferences in Washington, D.C., and at the Reagan Ranch in Santa Barbara, California. In addition, Horowitz never hesitated to share his wisdom and inspiring lessons at YAF’s Club 100 retreats where top student activists honed their skills and celebrated their on-campus victories.
For his invaluable work and critical contributions to the modern Conservative Movement, YAF awarded Horowitz its Lifetime Achievement award at the 2010 National Conservative Student Conference.
Among his many achievements and skills, one that shone at his YAF campus lectures was his ability to make the Left reveal who they really are and what they truly believe under the shiny veneer behind which they attempt to hide ulterior motives.
In one such instance, from a 2010 lecture at UC San Diego, Horowitz elicited a chilling admission during Q&A from a student who refused to condemn Hamas and instead said she supported the head of Hezbollah’s hope for Jews to gather in Israel so Iran-backed terrorists wouldn’t have to hunt Jews down around the world.
The fearless crusade Horowitz embarked on, one to defend and spread truth, inspired countless students who now carry on his work.
While this loss to the Conservative Movement is great, his brilliant writings and speeches live on as a guide for future generations to fight and win the battle for America’s soul.
RIP.
