YAF Statement on Fisher v. University of Texas Decision
Young America’s Foundation, the premier youth outreach organization of the Conservative Movement, is appalled by the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the use of racial preferences in our country’s college admissions process. This decision ensures that discrimination based on race, a deplorable practice many brave Americans fought bitterly to end, will be enshrined in university policies for years to come. Reacting to the Supreme Court’s decision, Young America’s Foundation President Ron Robinson remarked, “It is a disgrace that all students will not be treated equally as a result of this ruling. The University of Texas has a long history of discrimination based on racial classifications, and Justice Kennedy’s decision only ensures racial discrimination will continue.”
We are confident that Young America’s Foundation, and the Conservative Movement at large, is on the right side of history when it comes to treating all Americans equally rather than continuing to discriminate on the basis of skin color.
