One Vote Away: How a Single Supreme Court Seat Can Change History explains what happens behind the scenes at the Supreme Court when our constitutional rights are at stake. In the book, Sen. Cruz examines eight constitutional issues and landmark Supreme Court cases that every American should know about, almost all of which he helped litigate. Nearly all of the cases discussed in the book were decided by just one vote.
Senator Cruz is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School. He is a former law clerk to Chief Justice William Rehnquist, and former solicitor general of Texas. He has argued nine cases before the Supreme Court. In November of 2018, he was re-elected to the Senate by the people of Texas.
Senator Cruz sits on the Foreign Relations, Commerce, Judiciary, Joint Economic, and Rules Committees. In the Commerce Committee, Senator Cruz is the ranking member of the Subcommittee on Aviation. In the Judiciary Committee, he is the ranking member of the Subcommittee on The Constitution.
