Reagan: The Movie

Reagan is a new feature film chronicling Ronald Reagan’s extraordinary life story, from his childhood in Dixon to his epic stand against the forces of Communist totalitarianism as our 40th President.

The film—in theaters nationwide on Friday, August 30—stars Dennis Quaid as Ronald Reagan, Penelope Ann Miller as Nancy Reagan, and Jon Voight as KGB agent Viktor Petrovich.

Reagan is based on two books by longtime YAF speaker Dr. Paul Kengor, a professor and Reagan scholar at Grove City College in Pennsylvania. Dr. Kengor frequently addresses middle school, high school, and college students at YAF programs at the Reagan Ranch in Santa Barbara, California; the Reagan Boyhood Home in Dixon, Illinois; and our national headquarters in Reston, Virginia. His books—Crusader and God and Reagan (which served as source material for the film) and 11 Principles of a Reagan Conservative—serve as some of the definitive works on Ronald Reagan’s life and ideas.

The film also prominently features scenes at Ronald Reagan’s beloved Santa Barbara home, Rancho del Cielo, now preserved by Young America’s Foundation. The production filmed on location at the Reagan Ranch in February of 2021, capturing extraordinary footage of Ronald Reagan’s Western White House.

Dennis Quaid talks about his experiences filming at the Ranch, along with the crucial role his first visit played in convincing him to accept the role of Ronald Reagan, in an interview in our quarterly publication, Libertas.

Jon Voight also recently shared about his experience filming scenes at the Reagan Ranch and how YAF inspires the rising generation with student programs at Reagan’s “Western White House.”

Today, young people from across the country have the opportunity to walk in Ronald Reagan’s footsteps at the Reagan Ranch, learning more about the principles and ideas that fueled the Reagan Revolution.

Young America’s Foundation hosted two special advance screenings of Reagan in August, just ahead of the film’s national release.

On August 22, 2024, YAF hosted a Red Carpet Event with star Dennis Quaid at the Dixon Historic Theater in Dixon, IL. This is the same theater, built in 1922, where Ronald Reagan premiered his film International Squadron in 1941.

On August 26, 2024, YAF hosted a Release Party and Advance Screening of Reagan in the shadow of the Reagan Ranch in Santa Barbara, CA. The pre-screening reception also featured the debut of “Dutch,” a new Santa Ynez Valley Estate Syrah by Saarloos + Sons, specially bottled to benefit the Reagan Ranch.
