Gettysburg College has released a plan to incorporate “anti-racism” into its History major, according to a tip received through YAF’s Campus Bias Tip Line.
Rather than “focus on individual instances of racist activity,” faculty members are urged to understand and teach racism “as systemic and standardized through the development and implementation of policies,” according to Gettysburg’s website.
“History majors will be encouraged to consider the value of going beyond simply being ‘nonracist,’ and to instead be antiracist,” the website states. Students will be urged to analyze “practices that continue to significantly disadvantage Black, Brown and Indigenous people, while creating and protecting advantage for White people in economic, legal, health and political systems and practices.”
Andrew Breschard, chairman of the Gettysburg Young Americans for Freedom chapter, sees through the school’s façade and instead sees it as the school promoting far-left, critical race theory.
“By injecting divisive rhetoric regarding race into the curriculum, the college wastes valuable time and resources,” Breschard told YAF. “Rather than focusing on the outcomes and expertise of its students, Gettysburg College has decided to dilute its curriculum to the point that is filled with leftist propaganda and not enough real content.”
Gettysburg is quite literally adopting language from CRT advocate Ibram X. Kendi, who stated “…what I’m trying to do with my work is to really get Americans to eliminate the concept of ‘not racist’ from their vocabulary, and realize we’re either being racist or anti-racist.” This promotion of such a divisive character on the Left is shameful, and has no place in America’s classroom.
