Leader of the Islamic terrorist group Hezbollah praised the ongoing pro-Hamas protests on American university campuses, arguing that they will help the organization achieve its goal of impacting American domestic politics.
Sheikh Naim Qassem, leader of the Iran-aligned terror organization, applauded the student activists during an interview which circulated online this week. He stated that his perception of the American populace changes on whether they support the Palestinian cause.
“When the American people take a stand in support of Gaza, or rather, those among them take a stand in support of Gaza, we salute and applaud them, and we believe they are standing for justice against the occupation,” he said.
“We appreciate and value this very much. Perhaps in the future, there will be cooperation among the youth of the world in America, France, Britain, Germany, and all the activists.”
The Hezbollah head claimed that the campus protests are a key part of their ambitions in undermining Israel’s military response to Hamas’ October 7 terrorist attack in Israel which left over 1,400 dead.
“The campus protests are important, especially because they will have an impact on the U.S. elections. They will have an impact on the U.S. position.
“Even if Biden says he will not be influenced by this, he will, whether he likes it or not.”
The terrorist leader stated that President Joe Biden feels pressure to distance himself from Israel because of the mounting backlash against their war against Hamas.
“The pressure within America is more significant. He [Biden] is at risk of losing the elections because of Gaza,” he said.
Lamenting that Arab Americans are supposedly not copious enough to form a strong political “lobby” in the United States, he argued that the university encampments serve as a useful tool in exerting pressure on the Democratic party. He expressed hope that the new wave of protests could foreshadow a potential fracturing of the American-Israeli relationship.
“Where do the members of Congress come from? From among the people. If the people’s perspective changes….There was never such level of protests in America. This would mean embarking on a new stage, and maybe one of these days, America will no longer support Israel to such an extent,” he said.
