Young America’s Foundation President Governor Scott Walker is speaking at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire this evening, and a political science professor is incentivizing his students to skip out on Governor Walker’s lecture to attend an alternative event that the professor himself is putting on.
In an email to his students, Dr. Adam Kunz told students that his alternative event “will be a great opportunity not only because of what we will be discussing, but because at exactly the same moment, one of the campus political parties will be holding a partisan political rally across the hall.”
Those who attend the leftist event will receive a five-percent bonus on their final exam scores.
Kunz’ gross mischaracterization of Governor Walker’s speech as “a partisan political rally” could not be further from the truth. Instead of rallying support behind any particular candidate, the former state chief executive and presidential candidate will talk exclusively about why conservative values are superior to radical leftism.
Through his efforts to dissuade students from hearing what Governor Walker has to say, the professor, who teaches courses titled “Modern Political Thought” and “The Idea of Tolerance in the Western Political Tradition” is certainly proving himself to not be very tolerant of ideas he personally disagrees with.
Prior to becoming a professor, Kunz practiced law and represented the leftist students who spearheaded efforts to rename the Washington Redskins.
If any extra credit is being doled out at all, it should go to anyone who attends either event, as opposed to in this discriminatory manner.
Kunz did not immediately respond to the New Guard’s request for comment.
Unfortunately, it seems that some professors on the Left are more interested in self promotion and profiting off of students than they are in truly supporting their academic growth.
