In preparation for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, some leftist professors are calling for an end to multiple timeless traditions in order to appease Native Americans and the climate.
Dr. Jessica Fanzo of Columbia University’s Climate School is encouraging Americans to swap out their turkeys for meatless and generically named “celebration roasts” in order to save the environment.
Fanzo, who works as a professor of climate and director of the International Research Institute for Climate and Society, put out a post on the university’s website Monday morning in which she outlines the Left’s game plan to replace Thanksgiving staples with “environmentally friendly alternatives.”
“Why not try some turkey alternatives?” she asks. “You can choose a plant-based option, like Tofurkey or Field Roast-brand Celebration Roast. And instead of using turkey juice as your gravy base, you can opt for mushrooms.”
Amy Severns, of Coastline University, wrote in a recent blog post on the institution’s website that young people have been fed a “false narrative fueled by ignorant colonization” about the holiday.
She encourages students to “be an ally to Native American people” on Thanksgiving Day by speaking out against “microaggressions” and “cultural appropriation.” Additionally, she says they should replace the traditional turkey with native dishes in order to “decolonize” their diets – a strang suggestion, given that natives have consumed turkey for centuries.
This radical agenda to fundamentally alter Thanksgiving goes hand-in-hand with the Left’s push to replace Columbus Day with “Indigenous Peoples’ Day.” An October study by Young America’s Foundation concluded that the vast majority of the largest 100 school districts in America have moved away from honoring the brave and consequential explorer.
