More than 600 Young America’s Foundation students, alumni, friends, and supporters gathered in Milwaukee on Wednesday to attend the first presidential primary debate. YAF was honored to serve as a partner, ensuring that young peoples’ voices were heard and included throughout this important event.
YAF set the tone for what turned out to be a very exciting night with a live concert featuring Alexis Wilkins and entertaining commentary by Larry O’Connor.
Students and other attendees enjoyed food trucks, cornhole, swag tables, and participated in a campaign slogan contest while waiting for the main event to begin.
After thousands of attendees finished filing into the Deer District’s Fiserv Forum, YAF President Governor Scott Walker kicked off the debate with opening remarks: “We have the honor of training the next generation of leaders in the fight for freedom,” he said. “We’re thrilled to be a partner in this debate tonight to draw more attention to getting young people engaged in the Conservative Movement.”
“This was one of the most amazing opportunities in my entire life,” University of Iowa Young Americans for Freedom Chairwoman Jasmyn Jordan told the New Guard.
