Paul Matthews (CPA, CFA®) joined Young America’s Foundation as chief financial officer (CFO).
In many ways, this appointment marked a return to the organization, as Paul had previously worked with the Foundation as a student at Wabash College in the early 1990s. Specifically, as an incoming college freshman, Paul attended YAF’s 1991 National Conservative Student Conference. He later worked with YAF to bring Robert Novak, Russell Kirk, and William F. Buckley, Jr. to his college campus.
Prior to joining the Foundation, Paul worked two stints as a management consultant and served as the finance director for the Travis County Sheriff’s Office for more than a decade.
Before attending graduate school, Paul worked as a financial analyst at the Chicago Board of Trade, where he covered the corn, wheat, and soy complex and later the European government bond derivatives markets.
Over the past decade, Paul was active in the Conservative Movement in Texas, serving as the party treasurer for the Williamson County GOP (2013-2021). He was elected as a delegate to numerous county and state party conventions.
In 2020, Paul was elected by the state party delegates to serve as the Presidential elector for Texas Congressional District 31.
Paul is a Texas-licensed certified public accountant (CPA) and CFA® charter holder. He is an MBA graduate from the University of Texas McCombs School of Business, and he holds dual degrees in economics and business-finance from Indiana University in Bloomington.
