Students at Oklahoma State University, members of the group Speech Frist, filed suit as the group – in other words, they filed anonymously – to challenge the school’s bias-reporting policies, which are usually riddled with DEI mandates. The students filed anonymously because they reasonably feared reprisal from the institutional leaders they challenged. When the trial court ordered the students to reveal their identities, YAF asked the appeals court to affirm the right to anonymity.
The appeals court ruled in favor of the students, ensuring that students can continue to challenge unconstitutional school policies and administrators, without fear.
