As the New Guard has reported, when students returned to Xavier University this fall, they discovered that their Catholic school had instituted two new programs: an “Eco-Grief” series to promote the Left’s climate alarmism agenda and a support group for faculty and staff to “Interrogate their Whiteness.”
Sadly, this sort of left-wing indoctrination has become commonplace at Catholic schools and universities across the country. In the past year alone:
• St. Mary’s College, an all-women’s Catholic school, sought to admit male students pretending to be women.
• Loyola University Chicago sought “diverse candidates” for a “queer-centered” position as “faculty scholar in anti-oppressive pedagogy.”
• Saint Louis University hosted “transgender” activist Dylan Mulvaney for a lecture on “women’s empowerment.”
• The University of San Diego banned YAF speaker and practicing Catholic Matt Walsh due to his views on gender ideology (which reflect the teachings of the Catholic Church).
• Saint Louis University punished two YAF students for a pro-Israel banner that was displayed as part of the YAF chapter’s 9/11: Never Forget Project memorial.
Catholic teaching and conservative ideas are demonstrably compatible. Nevertheless, left-wing activists have spent decades infiltrating Catholic educational institutions, where they use their authority over students to promote misrepresentations of Catholic teaching and lead young people into a false understanding of conservative principles, public policy issues, and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
This is why Young America’s Foundation created the Be Not Afraid Seminar to empower students at Catholic schools with the knowledge and resources necessary to counter the unique form of leftist indoctrination taking place at their schools.
In 2025, YAF will host this program for the tenth year in a row, this time in beautiful Santa Barbara, California, where students will have the opportunity to explore the Reagan Ranch—President Reagan’s home of 25 years and his “Western White House” for eight.
