A leftist who apparently sympathizes with the terrorist organization Hamas took out their anger on a billboard truck with a pro-Israel, pro-Jewish message as it was circling the campus of George Washington University, according to posts by students on X.
The back panel of the truck, which is operated by the non-profit organization JewBelong, reads, “Let’s be clear: Hamas is your problem too.” The side panel reads, “We’re just 75 years since the gas chambers. So no, a billboard calling out Jew hate isn’t an overreaction.”
It’s unclear whether the vandal is affiliated with the university, but that wouldn’t be surprising.
The vandalism comes just one day after the private institution announced a three-month suspension of its Students for Justice in Palestine group over its horrific and antisemitic demonstrations in support of Hamas.
“This vandalism is incredibly disheartening and heinous after the incredible show of support and love at yesterday’s peaceful rally,” JewBelong co-founder Archie Gottesman said in a statement provided to the New Guard. “But it ultimately highlights why we need to keep fighting. Americans need to understand that Hamas is an oppressive organization that will not stop with the Jews and Israel. Standing up to the hate is crucial for all of us.”
“The horrific attacks by Hamas against innocent people in Israel have exposed disturbing antisemitism espoused by radicals on campuses across the country,” Young America’s Foundation President Governor Scott Walker remarked, when announcing the launch of the “Stand With Israel” activism resource hub last month.
YAF continues to empower students to stand up for Israel and Jewish people throughout the world by providing them with the tools and speakers they need to make a difference on campus and beyond.
