The Mathematical Association of America, a professional organization that counts undergraduate students, professors, and high school teachers among its members, is hosting a “Camp of Mathematical Queeries” for “LGBTQ+” 14 – 17 year-olds this summer.
Do you know a LGBTQ+ high school student with an interest in math?

Send them this tweet ASAP so they can apply for our virtual "Camp” of Mathematical Queeries today. Applications are due tomorrow, and applying only takes 10 minutes. https://t.co/DfI0Eyrq2K pic.twitter.com/cGVotkEbkK
The program, according to the MAA website, “is designed to tap into the rich funds of knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community and to provide a space in which LGBTQ+ and mathematical identity are affirmed as interconnected entities.”
Huston River Trading, a “non-binary” teacher, the Radical Pedagogy Institute, and the nonprofit organization Teach About Women are co-sponsoring the camp.
The online application form inquires about students’ romantic interests, “gender identity,” whether or not the student has watched RuPaul’s Drag Race and favorite forms of entertainment with “queer representation.”
Several educators, including Dr. Alicia Prieto of Youngstown State University, Dr. Alex Best of the University of Sheffield, and Dr. Noelle Sawyer of Southwestern University, expressed support for the program on Twitter.
Why did I go see the comments?? if you don't get why a certain community you don't belong to might need this, why not just accept you might not be qualified to reject this?? What is the harm in it for you when a good thing might happen to someone else?? https://t.co/foDFcYDsJA

I'm pleased to hear about math *camp* because:

1. The name is amazing + descriptive
2. It's virtual, so more accessible
3. I've had the chance to block so many people just based on the replies
4. I am not a hateful adult who lashes out at the sight of a rainbow https://t.co/MdPshXkRyT
Many sane and rational Twitter users criticized the bizarre program in the replies section of the MAA announcement – but the organization quickly removed their comments.
It’s disturbing that an organization that wields significant influence and power within the American education system is trying to pull children deeper and deeper into the Left’s cult of ideology.
