Join us on an expedition to the Reagan Ranch. As part of YAF’s Freedom at 250 initiative, this program invites students to consider an essential truth: freedom is not inherited and needs to be protected.
At the Reagan Ranch Center and on-site at Rancho del Cielo, students explore how private property, personal responsibility, and hard work shaped President Reagan’s character and leadership. They also learn why these same habits strengthen a free society today.
Life at the Ranch reflected Reagan’s belief that freedom flourishes when individuals take responsibility for what they own and build. Students examine how property rights and free enterprise create opportunity and innovation, and why systems that deny ownership—socialism and communism—ultimately erode liberty.
Through discussion and hands-on learning, students are challenged to think clearly about the difference between freedom and control, and why ideas matter—especially at pivotal moments in history.

Program Overview

Middle school is a pivotal time. Students are asking big questions about identity, truth, and what kind of life they want to live. The Reagan Ranch Middle School Expedition gives them a framework rooted in history, character, and the principles that made America free, and encourages them to live those truths with courage.
By the end of the day, students will understand:
Young Americans return home more confident, more thoughtful, and more motivated to protect the freedom they have inherited.
