Middle School Students

$40

As part of YAF’s Freedom at 250 initiative, students learn how character prepares them to defend freedom.

Discover Where Courageous Leaders Begin

Step into the town that helped shape Ronald Reagan and discover why character, courage, and hard work still matter today.

At Young America’s Foundation’s Middle School Expedition in Dixon, Illinois, students will explore the ideas and values that shaped President Reagan and learn why freedom depends on each new generation to understand it, defend it, and live it out.

On this adventure, students will:

  • Build friendships and leadership skills
  • Take part in dynamic activities that strengthen teamwork and critical thinking
  • Explore Reagan’s Boyhood Home and the small-town roots that shaped his leadership
  • Hear from dynamic speakers who will challenge them to think clearly and lead boldly
  • Leave inspired to live with greater resilience, determination, and purpose

The Reagan Resilience Challenge

Led by Chris Johnson, Retired Green Beret, the Reagan Resilience Challenge is an interactive leadership obstacle course designed to help students build teamwork, problem-solving, perseverance, and confidence through hands-on experience.

More than just a physical activity, this challenge helps students practice the qualities courageous leaders need: resilience, communication, initiative, and determination.

What Your Student Will Take Away

By the end of the day, students will have a deeper understanding of the principles that shaped President Reagan and the responsibilities that come with liberty. Through engaging teaching, interactive experiences, and meaningful discussion, they will explore leadership, free-market ideas, and the enduring values that make America strong.

This one-day educational program begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, and ends at 5:00 p.m. at the Northwest Territory Historic Center
